🚨 3 Things to Avoid Before a Cake Smash! 🚨
Make sure your little one is camera-ready for their big milestone moment!
Cake smash sessions are one of the most joyful (and adorable!) ways to celebrate a baby’s first birthday. But to make sure everything goes smoothly and we capture those priceless giggles, frosting-covered fingers, and cheeky smiles, there are a few key things to keep in mind before the big day.
Here are 3 things to avoid before your cake smash session — and how to set your baby up for a fun and memorable experience:
Trust me — a well-rested baby is a happy baby!
Try to schedule your session around your child’s nap time to avoid any grumpy moods or meltdowns. When little ones are overtired, they’re far less likely to engage, smile, or enjoy the experience.
Pro Tip: A calm, slow morning and a good nap right before the session can make all the difference.
A cake smash is a brand new (and sometimes messy!) experience, and some babies are unsure about diving into a giant frosted cake for the first time.
We recommend letting your baby explore a cupcake or a small taste of frosting a few days before the shoot. This helps them get used to the texture, taste, and fun of it all — so they’re more likely to dig in during the session!
Bonus: It can also make for some sweet pre-cake smash memories.
Your baby’s comfort and health are always the top priority. If your little one is unwell — whether it’s teething, a cold, or just an off day — don’t hesitate to reschedule.
I completely understand and want your child to enjoy every moment of their cake smash session. A happy, healthy baby means better photos and a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Remember: These sessions are all about celebrating your little one’s first big milestone — so let’s make it as stress-free and magical as possible!
