Cake smash by Chris Photography offers welcoming milestone sessions for siblings and families.

One of the questions I get asked all the time is: can siblings come to a cake smash session?
The answer is always yes. Siblings are absolutely welcome, and I actually love including them.

A first birthday is such a special milestone, but it is also a beautiful time to capture your children together. As a mum of four boys myself, I know just how quickly time flies, and these are the moments you never want to miss.

Including Siblings in the Celebration

Siblings can join in a few different ways. We can start with sibling photos before the cake comes out, which is usually the easiest option. This way we get some gorgeous clean portraits together before the messy fun begins.

If your older child is happy to stay, they can also join in the cake smashing fun for a few photos. Some siblings love helping feed the cake, some sit beside baby, and others just pop in for a quick cuddle. I always follow their lead and keep it relaxed and natural.

These often end up being some of the most special images from the session.

A Relaxed and Easy Experience

Every session is kept calm and flexible so it works for your family. Some parents prefer just a few sibling photos at the beginning, while others would like siblings included throughout the session. Both options work beautifully and I am always happy to guide you.

You are also welcome to bring siblings in just for a short time if that suits their age and patience.

Tips for Bringing Siblings Along

To help everything run smoothly, I usually recommend:
• Bringing a snack for afterwards
• A simple outfit that matches nicely
• A spare outfit if they want to join the cake smash
• Letting them know they will get to help celebrate

Keeping things easy and pressure free always works best.

Capturing Memories That Matter

Including siblings adds so much personality and connection to your cake smash session. These photos capture more than just a first birthday, they capture your children growing up together.

As a mum, I know how quickly this stage passes. One minute they are tiny, the next they are running around together. That is why I always love including siblings when possible.

If you are looking for a cake smash photographer in Point Cook or Melbourne’s western suburbs, siblings are always welcome in my studio. I would love to help you create something really special for your family.
